By Pépites de vin
We recommend choosing a high-quality champagne to mark the occasion of your wedding!
You can opt for a well-known champagne brand that will appeal to your guests: Taittinger, Veuve Clicquot, Ruinart, Moët & Chandon… However, these are very expensive champagnes and may not fit within your budget. With these brands, you’re paying for both quality and the brand’s reputation.
So, why not explore “grower champagnes”? These champagnes are produced by independent growers, often less known but equally excellent in quality.
We recommend producers such as Vollereaux, Jean Duclert, which we are the only ones to distribute at Pépites de vin, or Dominé champagnes, which offer excellent value for money without compromising on taste !
We have a wide selection of champagnes at affordable prices, selected by us and which have already been much appreciated at numerous weddings.
Champagne is typically served during the cocktail hour (or reception) with appetizers. It’s a perfect aperitif to stimulate the appetite.
It can also be served during dinner for toasts and speeches to raise a glass. Finally, it’s common to offer a last glass with dessert. You can also choose to make champagne the main drink for the wedding and serve it throughout the evening!
Our advice: always plan for a few extra bottles to serve late in the evening to refresh guests who stay on the dance floor!
For the cocktail hour, go for a brut champagne (meaning low in sugar) so as not to dull your guests’ appetite before the meal. Brut champagnes are easier to drink and more digestible.
You might also choose a rosé champagne for a unique and festive touch. If so, opt for a low-sugar rosé champagne!
You can choose between a major champagne brand and a grower champagne there’s no right or wrong choice, just go with your budget and preferences!
Champagne pairs beautifully with a wide variety of foods:
Seafood (a perfect pairing with oysters, for instance!). For these dishes, go with a brut or extra-brut (even less sweet) champagne.
Champagne also complements all types of savory appetizers: foie gras toasts, salmon toasts, verrines…
It can also pair surprisingly well with certain cheeses like Brie, Chaource, or goat cheeses—sure to surprise your guests and make it memorable!
Absolutely! Champagne pairs wonderfully with sweet desserts like chocolate fondant, crème brûlée, or tarte tatin. You have options here: choose a brut champagne, a slightly sweeter demi-sec for a hint of sweetness, or a rosé champagne with fruity notes that work well with a wide range of desserts.
Our advice: a rosé champagne pairs beautifully with a red fruit tart!
It’s possible to buy champagne at supermarkets, but you’ll find a mix of branded and lower-quality options. Branded bottles can add a prestigious touch to your event, though they may not suit every budget.
Additionally, you won’t receive expert advice to guide you through the selection process.
To have a broader selection and expert recommendations, consider consulting a specialist, like a wine merchant. However, merchants offering tastings are becoming rare, and they typically don’t offer delivery services.
You can also reach out to Pépites de Vin! I think that for people who don’t live in France, it’s much easier to choose champagne with Pépites de Vin to avoid issues with transport and delivery and to get expert advice! It removes these logistical constraints and makes the process easier. You’ll receive advice from a sommelier specializing in weddings and access to a wide range of wines and champagnes at fair prices, with free tasting sessions available. Finally, Pépites de Vin offers delivery service directly to the wedding venue, so you don’t have to worry about logistics!
For a well-known champagne brand, expect to spend between €35 and €50.
For an excellent grower champagne, you’ll find some great options between €20 and €30 (ask our sommeliers for advice!).
In any case, avoid champagnes under €20, as they are often lower in quality. If your budget is below €20, consider a crémant instead of champagne—you’ll find excellent options for under €15 !
